GUEST POST: Christmas traditions

Happy holidays everyone!

Schmoo in her Xmas show outfit

Maria from Tiger Tales asked me about our Christmas traditions. We actually have quite a few. This year we even have a new one, Schmoo's Xmas skating show! Here is a rundown of our more long-standing ones:

Rehearsal: spiral

I love Christmas. The presents, the food, the decorations, it's all so delicious. It's the one time in the year when the whole family can take a break at the same time and chill out together.

Rehearsal: slaloms
The Christmas tree goes up at the start of December and the rest of the month is a whirl of present buying and food shopping. The children put their stockings at the end of their beds on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day always starts waaaaaay too early with their squeals of delight when they discover what Santa has brought them!

Rehearsal: opening step sequence
When they come downstairs, all the big presents will be waiting around the tree, although they only get to open ONE before lunch! Breakfast is always croissants, scrambled eggs & smoked salmon, with bucks fizz. Then we go for a walk, along the river, or to the woods or park. It's lovely to be outside on Christmas Day, it's always really quiet and the few people you do meet are feeling jolly and wish you a merry Christmas.
